AWS Regions, Availability Zones, and Local Zone

--

Coming to AWS Infrastructure there are three terms in AWS:

  1. Region: A region represents a separate geographic area.
  2. Availability Zone: Availability Zone is a single Data Center or a group of Data Centers in a region.
  3. Data Center: A physical location that stores computing machines and their related hardware equipment.

Each Region and Availability Zone has different codes

NOTE: While using AWS services, its recommended to use the AZ that is nearest to you to reduce latency.

Local Zone: Local Zones enable customers single-digit latency.
Low latency and high throughput in local zones.
